Echo (Soul Seekers 2) by Alyson Noel

She inherited a magical destiny—and a mission to stop a powerful family of dark sorcerers. She never expected to fall in love with one of them.

There’s still so much Daire Santos has to learn about being the last Soul Seeker….and about herself.  As her magical training becomes more intense, so does her relationship with Dace.  But when she learns that his connection to the evil Richter family goes far deeper than she ever imagined, she begins to question if love really can conquer all.

Dace is painfully aware that he wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the Richters’ dark magic—and now his brother Cade is determined to use his love for Daire against him.  Dace is willing to sacrifice anything to protect the girl he loves —including his own life.  But will Daire allow it?  And what if defeating Cade costs not only his life, but his soul too?

Enchanting, haunting, romantic, Echo is the second book in the Soul Seekers series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noël!

Daire and her grandmother are now having to pick up their training right where they left off when Cade had taken Paloma's soul. Cade stumbles across Daire and Dace in an intimate session when Cade tells Dace about their family and who he really is, how he since they are twins they're soul was split in half. In order to do what he thinks he must do to protect Daire it's best if he stays away from her because Cade is feeding off his love for Daire. Cade has been messing with the balance of the other world Daire and Dace feel in order to protect themselves and the other worlds they have to get rid of Cade.

This is the second book in the series and it picks up right back where Fated left off. This book was written in dual POV so we get to see a little bit of Dace's emotions. The first quarter of the book is told strictly from Daire's point of view. Then once the reader gets around to pages 50-75 thats when they are able to read Dace's POV and honestly dual POV is the hardest to write. The plot tended to drag on quite a bit, and it wasn't until the reader gets toward page 200 is when the plot begins to pick up. Noel also introduces us to Phyre who was Dace's ex-girlfriend and it's later revealed in the book why she has suddenly reappeared. I had a hard time trying to finish it because the plot was dragging quite a bit. Even though I already bought all the books in the series I'm still going to follow through and finish all them to see how the author played the rest of it out.
